Smt. Rita Teaotia is one of India’s most respected civil servants, known for her leadership in public administration and policy. An alumna of Delhi University with an M.A. in English and an LLB, she was also a Fulbright Scholar, completing advanced training at Harvard and INSEAD.

Over her distinguished IAS career, she served in senior positions in Gujarat before moving to the Government of India, where she held pivotal roles as Commerce Secretary and Chairperson of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). She helped shape India’s international trade policies, ensured food safety regulation, and brought an ethos of efficiency and transparency to public institutions.

At Chaitanya, she serves as Trustee and Chairperson of SVNT, providing direction to governance, strategy, and growth. She believes that education must blend knowledge, skills, and values, preparing children to remain rooted in their culture while being ready to thrive globally. Outside of professional work, she enjoys reading and mentoring, and continues to remain engaged with issues of public health and wellbeing.
