Smt Elizabeth Koshy

Smt. Elizabeth Koshy is the Founder Director of Chaitanya School and one of the principal architects of its ethos. With a Master’s in English Literature and a Bachelor’s in History (World and Indian Art) from Stella Maris College, Madras University, she combined scholarship with creativity to lay the foundation for a school that prioritises children’s happiness, values, and holistic growth.

Since 2003, she has steered Chaitanya from a nursery into a full-fledged CBSE-affiliated institution. Her guiding philosophy of “Childhood for the Child to Responsible Adulthood” has influenced every aspect of the school — from its green learning environment to its emphasis on creativity, compassion, and curiosity.

Beyond Chaitanya, she enriched Gandhinagar’s intellectual life by founding The Book Club, which brought authors, readers, and critics together through discussions and newsletters. She has also facilitated workshops at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, and her journalism has appeared in The Times of India, Femina, and The Indian Express. In 2018, she authored A Palimpsest, a collection of essays reflecting her engagement with social and cultural issues.

As Founder Trustee and Hon. Director, she continues to nurture Chaitanya with the conviction that education must empower children with both intellect and humanity. Outside of professional work, she is passionate about reading, writing, interior design, and creative sustainability projects.
