Smt. Binita Desai is a pioneering designer and educator with more than four decades of experience in visual communication and animation design. An alumna of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (BFA, Applied Arts), she trained in animation at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, under a United Nations fellowship.
She was among the founding team that launched India’s first postgraduate programme in Animation Design at NID in 1985. Over the years, she has produced educational films on themes such as road safety, energy conservation, and social development, while mentoring generations of design students. Since 2002, she has served as Professor of Graphic Design and Animation at DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, and continues to teach as visiting faculty at NID.
At Chaitanya, she brings her expertise in design for education and creative pedagogy, enriching the school’s approach to visual learning and innovation. Outside of professional work, she enjoys the visual arts, animation film-making, and mentoring students in design.
