Shri K. Nityanandam is a senior police officer of the 1977 IPS batch who has combined a distinguished administrative career with a lifelong interest in education and public policy. He holds an M.A. in English, an LLB, and diplomas in Criminology, Human Resources, and Management.

During his service, he held senior positions such as Home Secretary, Government of Gujarat, Police Commissioner, and Director of the CISF Training College. For his contributions, he was awarded both the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Known for his clarity of thought and governance acumen, he also authored two volumes on security and has published widely in national newspapers on issues of policing and public life.

At Chaitanya, he advises on governance, institutional resilience, and discipline, offering perspectives that strengthen both operational systems and the school’s emphasis on values. Outside of professional work, he is a keen wildlife photographer, enthusiastic traveller, and writer, with a passion for documenting experiences and sharing insights.
