The 10th anniversary celebrations at
Chaitanya continued into the New Year, and ended with the grand
‘’Khelotsav’’ on 1st February, 2014 at the Kridaangan
in the beautiful Chaitanya campus . Shri K Nityanandam, former
Additional DG of Police, Government of Gujarat and Advisor SVNT,
graced the occasion as Chief guest and declared the Sports Meet
open in the presence of the Founder- Director, Smt Elizabeth
Koshy, SVNT Trustee Smt Nalini Subbarao and Advisors Dr
Subbarao and Shri C K Koshy.
The Principal, Smt Preeta Pillai welcomed the
Chief Guest and parents and encouraged the students saying that
sports is not about winning or losing, but about sportsmanship
and team- spirit with the motto“ Play up, play up and play the
game.” The presence of the Chaitanya Mascot- ‘’Brer Terrapin’’
was evident in a topical skit about core competence and teamwork
winning the day.
At Chaitanya every student
participates with enthusiasm, from the kindergarten
to the senior classes. Chaitanya Junior put up a
remarkable performance with the Rainbow Drill, flag
race, buds and beads, get ready for school and so on
to much wholehearted applause for the little ones.
The March Past was a visual delight with the
Chaitanyans in the colourful array of their house colours
keeping perfect time to the rhythm of drum beats as they marched
past the Chief Guest. Tradition and talent are allowed to
flourish at Chaitanya as the Sports Torch and Oath, Mass Drills,
the Chaitanya Anthem have remarkable significance in the Sports
The Narmada, Sabarmati, Mahi and Tapti Houses
vied with each other in 27 different races, Long-jump, Hurdles,
Relay and Shot-put events. They had the spectators rooting for
their teams as they toted up points for their respective houses
with great enthusiasm. The Chaitanya Parivar organized events
for grandparents, parents, ground staff and teachers followed by
a Marathon for all. Team spirit and sportsmanship was evident in
the healthy competition. The medals and certificates were
distributed by the parents and dignitaries present.
The much awaited awards were
finally declared with the Sabarmati House claiming the Rolling
Shield and the Tapti House for the best Marchers.
Beating the Retreat marked the close of the
sports fest. It was generally acknowledged that the Sports
Master and the rest of the staff and the Principal had done a
remarkable job of enthusing the students to give off their best.
The vote of thanks was given by Swatti Matta, HoD followed by
the National Anthem and Three Cheers for Chaitanya .
