Chaitanya KHELOTSAV-2013

Play up, Play up and Play the Game!!

This was the credo of the annual sports day Chaitanya Khelotsav - 2013 held on 25th January 2013 at the “Kridaangan” of Chaitanya School’s Lekawada Campus. It was the culmination of the year long sporting activities.

Chaitanya,  a progressive English Medium School managed by the Sree Vidya NIketan Trust (SVNT) ensures comprehensive development of the students where sports and physical activities are   key components

Mr Madhu Menon, Founder-Director of ANALA (Ahmedabad Nature Lovers Association) was the chief guest at the event.  Ms Elizabeth Koshy  and Ms Nalini Subba Rao graced the occasion as representatives of the SVNTrust.

After the March-Past by the four houses Mahi, Narmada, Sabarmati and Tapti, Kartikeya Rai  of Class 7 read the Sports Oath glorifying the spirit of sportsmanship. Dressed in Greek attire, reminiscent of the ancient Olympics, it was an unusual sight

The Olympics Quiz was another interesting feature. The drills which included Dumb-bells - Mahi House, Pyramids-Sabarmati House, Saree Drill-Narmada House and Ribbon Drill-Tapti by the children were a visual delight.

The KG Section of Chaitanya Junior competed in the Cap and  Balloon races

and other age-appropriate races. Rolling the ball and running; old favourites Lemon and spoon, Sack Race, and  Hurdles were other events. The senior children competed in Short-put and Long jump followed by Relays - one for children of classes I - III and another for children of classes IV - VIII. The “Cinderella Race” for parents and the “Knots and Crosses” race for grand- parents caught the fancy of the audience going by the resounding applause.

Mahi House won the award for the best overall performance. Soham Bhatt of Mahi House was declared “Sports Champion of the year 2013”

In her welcome address, Ms Preeta Pillai, Principal stressed that sports is not about winning alone, it’s about effort and when such effort happens every single day, transformation happens and brings about  CHANGE.

Ms Prerana Modi, Section Head surpassed herself with excellent co-ordination and management of the events. Mr Jignesh, the Sports Master did a magnificent job of training the Chaitanyans. Ms Nirupama Agnihotri and Ms Aarti Desale were the emcees. The Chaitanya Staff collectively rose to the occasion to put up a brilliant show. Ms Swati Matta, Section Head delivered the Vote of Thanks.
