Awards and Orientation Ceremony at Chaitanya

The Awards and Orientation Ceremony at Chaitanya was held on 29th March 2014 at the Barot Amphitheatre in the Lekawada campus. Mr Asheem Srivastava, Member-Secretary, National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) from the Governement of India presided over the function and presented the prestigious scholarships and awards to the winners. The Sree Vidya Niketan Trust which manages Chaitanya School was represented by Mr Ravi Gopalan, Treasurer, Ms Elizabeth Koshy, Secretary, and Advisor Mr C K Koshy. 

Parents and guests got a sneak- peek at the activities in Chaitanya when the Principal, Ms Preeta Pillai presented the Annual report of the school high lighting the many innovative ventures and on-going theme-based projects throughout the year.  She was proud to announce that, besides academic excellence, Chaitanyans won accolades in several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as Olympiads and Karate. The “Chetana” Awards were introduced this year for the student with the greatest “Awareness”.  All the teachers were presented on stage. The prestigious Guru Chaitanya Award was also instituted by the SVNT this year. Ms Swati Matta, Head of Department for Science was presented with the award for her commitment to teaching.

Always innovative, Chaitanya is proud to initiate Computer Masti, a collaborative product from IIT Bombay and InOpen Technologies this academic year. This is to ensure that the students develop skills with associated concepts and holistic growth.

The KG children kept the guests entertained with an interactive song and dance. The Sarva Dharma prarthana and an unusual Swagatham dance by the older children were impressive. The Chaitanya Jyoth was lit by the Chief Guest and the students proudly sang the Chaitanya Anthem which epitomizes the Chaitanya values. The guests were welcomed with khadi garlands and the students gave a beautiful rendering of “Two little magic words” and “It’s a small world”.

The chief guest Asheem Shrivastava addressed the audience, clearly impressed by Chaitanya and its commitment to excellence in education. He felt that schools like Chaitanya should be replicated all over the country.  Chaitanya’s firm belief in holistic education awarded the students on varied criteria of performances; scholastic and co-scholastic.
