10th Anniversary Celebrations at Chaitanya School, Gandhinagar

In a glittering function Chaitanya School celebrated its 10th Anniversary and Chaitanyotsav at Lekawada on Saturday 19th October. It was attended by Parents and a host of luminaries from Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad and abroad. Mr Samveg Lalbhai, Managing Director of Atul Ltd and Chairman of Anandji Kalyanji  was the Chief Guest and  Mr Praful Anubhai, Chairman of Ahmedabad University and Sree Vidya Niketan Trust presided over the function.

Chaitanya School is managed by The Sree Vidya Niketan Trust, a charitable organisation   which believes in Giving back to society.  Excellence in Education is their avowed aim and the Trustees and Advisors along with a large number of patrons adhere to this mission. The Trustees and Advisors were present in full force. The Utsav was supervised by the Director, Ms Elizabeth Koshy and Trustee Ms Nalini Subbarao with the Principal, Ms Preeta Pillai and Staff of Chaitanya.

The Theme of the Chaitanyotsav 2013 was “Tales the World Tells”. Children from Nursery upwards showcased their talents in the form of dance, drama and poetry. Parallels were drawn with Indian mythology and legend in stories passed down through generations. It was brought to the attention of the audience that though the Indian  civilisation goes  back  a long way, it is an on-going one, alive and flourishing. Being an English medium school, the children enacted the trial scene from Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice preceded by a masked Italian dance. The Rig Veda and Dasavatar  were also received with  great applause and appreciation. The children danced to the tune of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and enacted the Ants and the Crickets in poetry and dance. William Tell showed his prowess as an archer. The pre-teens danced to the vigorous rhythm of the Hebrew song of rejoicing. The 50 states of the USA were depicted in an unusual march and song. Chaitanya Junior was not left behind as they followed Noah into his Ark as animals and walked the ramp as characters from fairy tales and nursery rhymes.

The Utsav was conceptualised by the Management and Staff of Chaitanya School to transport them to different places and times in a unique manner to display the talents of the students and staff  in remarkable dance forms and unusual costumes.
